As part of the development of the Philippine railway network, the Department of Transportation created the Philippine Railway Institute (PRI) in 2019 to be the national training and research centre for the training of railway management, operation and maintenance personnel.
This developing institute contacted IFF for an exchange meeting, which was attended by the Under Secretary of the Philippine Railways, Timothy John BATAN, and Mme Anneli LONTOC , officer in charge and Executive Director of the Philippine Railway Institute (PRI).
The exchange allowed the presentation of the two institutes, their missions and their organisation. Mr BATAN took the opportunity to put PRI in the context of the development of the rail network over the next decade; for its part, IFF also mentioned the bodies in which it participates within the UIC: the Talent and Expertise Development platform and the TrainRail project.
A future meeting will be held to discuss possible partnerships.
