From March 30 to April 1, 2026, a delegation of experts from IFF conducted a mission in Cairo with the Egyptian National Railways (ENR). This mission is part of the FEXTE ENR project, a co-development initiative funded by AFD and led by SNCF International, aimed at adapting the training program’s pedagogical design to ENR’s operational realities and specific needs.

During this visit, the teams held in-depth discussions with stakeholders and conducted several technical visits, notably to the Centralized Control Center (CTC), the GE locomotive workshops, as well as to operational facilities and rolling stock. The delegation also visited the Wardan Institute and the Higher Institute of Transport Technology.

This work provided a better understanding of ENR’s needs, helped identify the profiles of future trainees, clarified expectations regarding the training program, and established an appropriate overall schedule.

Following this mission, a structured training program was finalized, covering:

-Rolling stock maintenance

-Track maintenance

-Railway signaling maintenance

-Safety and quality management systems

The first sessions are scheduled to begin in July 2026 at IFF.

By supporting ENR in strengthening its capabilities, in line with its technical, organizational, and strategic challenges, the IFFF confirme son expertise comme partenaire de référence pour la formation ferroviaire en Afrique.
