Building on the momentum established between IFF and Owendo Mineral Port (OMP), which began in Libreville in September 2024, a new milestone has just been reached with the launch of a training program in Rabat.

This program, which lasts a total of 8 weeks, is attended by 12 technicians and rolling stock maintenance supervisors. The participants are divided into two groups.

Its objective is to strengthen technical skills related to the maintenance and operation of rolling stock in accordance with railway standards.

Topics covered:

  • Technical inspection and first-level maintenance of railcars and locomotives
  • Running gear technology
  • Braking systems (general and freight-specific)
  • Under-vehicle axle inspection
  • Cold fitting on a cylindrical surface
  • Optimization of axle reprofiling
  • Bolted joints
  • Troubleshooting: fundamentals and practical cases

An immersive educational approach combining theoretical instruction in mixed-nationality sessions (Moroccan and Gabonese participants 🇲🇦 🇬🇦), field trips, and hands-on training at ONCF maintenance workshops, enabling practical learning closely aligned with operational realities.

The closing ceremony for the first group’s training program is scheduled for May 15, with OMP officials in attendance, marking the completion of this cycle and recognizing the commitment of OMP employees.
