Following the signing in April 2024 of a partnership agreement and memorandum of understanding between IFF and Owendo Mineral Port (OMP), a process of development and skills transfer is underway as part of the project to restructure and modernise OMP’s railway operations.

The objectives are to develop the technical skills essential for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance, repair and operation of rolling stock, in accordance with current railway standards.

From 15 September to 17 October 2024, IFF had the pleasure of delivering the first phase of the training programme for a mixed group of 17 technicians and rolling stock maintenance officers in Libreville.

This first stage enabled us to address:

  • Discovering railway technologies: the railway system and its components
  • Q3SE operator training (Quality, Railway Safety, Personal Safety, Security)
  • Thermal base technologies.

The rest of the programme, currently underway, covers:

  • The basic technology of freight rolling stock (wagons)
  • An introduction to railway braking and air production

This programme is based on an active teaching approach, combining theory and practical application in the field. It is part of a roadmap of several training modules that will run until the second half of 2026.
